Program Overview

The Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology program is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to pursue a career in the field of radiologic technology. This program prepares individuals to become competent and professional radiologic technologists who can perform diagnostic imaging procedures with precision and compassion. Throughout the program, students will gain a strong foundation in medical sciences, radiation physics, and imaging techniques.

Hands-on clinical experience is a vital component of the program, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare settings. Under the supervision of experienced radiologic technologists, students will engage in clinical rotations in hospitals, medical clinics, and imaging centers. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certification is a requirement for employment in most healthcare facilities.

Program outcomes. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate clinical competencies by obtaining diagnostic radiographs and performing radiation safety practices.
  • Learn critical communication skills necessary in the radiography field by communicating with other health professionals and obtaining accurate patient histories.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills by determining the appropriate sequences for multiple exams and adjusting exposure variables for unacceptable radiographs.

Program Schedule

For the convenience of its students, the University operates on a quarter-based schedule with year-round classes. Students may begin their programs at any of the starting dates during the year.

Full-time undergraduate students enroll in at least 12 credit hours per 10-week term. This typically includes three different 4-credit courses offered across either 5-week or 10-week sessions.

The University courses use both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (on-demand) interactions. Courses are delivered online (delivered through Canvas with scheduled Global Learn™ sessions) and through hybrid instruction (combining online coursework with required in-person residencies).

Not every course requires a residency; however, when a student is scheduled in a class that includes residency, the student is required to attend all residency sessions on campus. For example, if a student is scheduled for a weekend residency session, the student must attend all three (3) days of the session.

This is a full-time degree program. Class days and hours are to be determined but will primarily be night classes. For every one hour of lecture, students should expect two hours of outside class preparation and study. Clinical rotations: students will be required to rotate through various clinical sites on 8 to 12 hour shifts per day, 3 to 5 days per week.

Upcoming start dates: January 3, 2027; March 21, 2027; June 6, 2027; August 22, 2027; November 7, 2027.

New cohorts start regularly throughout the year. Our start dates are as follows:
