Program Description

Medical billing and coding professionals play an important role in the healthcare industry today. Students will learn, through computerized billing simulations, how to create, save, retrieve, edit, and maintain patient files. In addition, they will learn how to post payments to patient accounts, produce insurance claim forms, correct and resubmit rejected claims, produce insurance claim activity reports, and enter electronic claims.

Course Prerequisites

High School Diploma, GED, TASC or, a foreign country high school diploma
(Must be in English or translated into English)
Students of the Medical Billing and Coding program are encouraged to take the exam given by:
National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
