Program Overview

The Esthiology (esthetician) program at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute New York City is for students who want to launch a creative, successful career in the booming field of professional skin care. With an Aveda esthetics education, you’ll be armed with theory and techniques that set you apart.

With our emphasis on natural skincare, including using high-performance Aveda products featuring pure flower and plant essences, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute – New York is the destination training ground for modern esthetics techniques and knowhow.

We’ve designed our Esthiology program with our trademark all-vegan Aveda products and wellness rituals in mind. You’ll learn a variety of essential beauty topics and techniques, including facials, hair removal, makeup, aromatherapy, and more. Every Esthiology student at our NYC campus can learn to successfully provide a complete spa experience to their future clients, including facials, waxing, makeup application, and more.

The program is split across several subject areas, with over one-third of the training (225 hours) dedicated to facials and body procedures. Classes also cover anatomy and physiology (30 hours), makeup techniques (70 hours), and hair removal (60 hours). Beyond skincare skills, you’ll be exposed to other topics that ensure you’re ready to jump into your new esthetician career, such as business practices, nutrition, and infection control.

You’ll combine classroom learning with hands-on experience and lab time and have plenty of opportunities to practice your new techniques during extracurricular activities such as fashion shows, charity fundraisers, and more.

Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute New York offers Esthiology, in which students learn techniques to purify, balance, and renew the skin. The 600-hour program combines theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and professional business-building skills.
