Instructor Training (45 Hours) is a Diploma program offered by Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes in Minneapolis, MN. The program takes 1 week to complete, with a total tuition of $1,000.
Program Overview
For licensed beauty practitioners who want to become changemakers through teaching, we offer Instructor Training programs at many of our Aveda Arts & Sciences Institutes. Through our program, you can turn your calling into a full-time or part-time educator career—whether it’s with a school in the Aveda family or beyond.
Our typical candidate is a cosmetologist or esthetician with an active license. You do not need to have graduated from an Aveda Institute to qualify for our Instructor Training program. The goal of the Instructor Training program is to prepare you for the state licensing exam to become an educator in your chosen field (cosmetology or esthetics).
As an instructor trainee, you will also do some real instruction at the campus where you are taking the Instructor Training program and receive feedback from veteran educators.
The 45-hour Instructor Training program provides a clear path for training and development. The training begins with immersion into teaching methodology. The course will be a combination of lecture, demonstration, and student participation. Experience and confidence are gained through shadowing, observation and participation. The Instructor Training Program is designed as an introduction to the Aveda Curriculum and will expand as the instructors’ confidence and skills develop.
What sets this Program apart
At this flagship campus of Aveda Institutes, our students come for far more than just skillbuilding. The students at Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Minneapolis value our focus on wellness—both personal and environmental—and rituals rooted in ancient beauty practices that still resonate today with a modern twist.
Beyond the classroom or clinic floor, students have the chance to participate in two fashion shows during the year: one for Breast Cancer Awareness and another—fittingly for the Aveda brand that walks the talk on environment sustainability—celebrating Earth Month. Our active community also proudly participates in Minneapolis’ annual Pride parade and fest.
It’s not just our physical building that has history, either. The proof points of our program are our noteworthy alumni. Among our distinguished Minneapolis graduates are beauty pros who have made it to the pinnacle of their fields, including the celebrity hairstylist Jonathan Van Ness; David Wagner, founder and CEO of Juut Salonspa; and Janell Geason, global artistic director and educator for Aveda’s makeup division.
Home to one of the nation’s leading Aveda programs, Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Minneapolis combines strong graduation (85.7%), placement (77.8%), and licensure (94%) outcomes with advanced esthetics training opportunities.*
