Sports Broadcasting is a Diploma program (Hybrid) offered by Beonair Network of Media Schools in Whitehall, OH. The program takes 8 months (32 weeks) across two terms to complete, with a total tuition of $18,440.

Program Overview

Turn your passion for the game into a career. The Sports Broadcasting program combines classroom learning with hands-on training across radio, TV, and internet-based sports media. You'll develop production, play-by-play, and interviewing skills, and cover sporting events from both the studio and the field. You'll produce collaborative radio and TV shows in the school's studios and create your own final project to sharpen your production and announcing skills — covering sports writing and journalism, sports talk, sports radio and TV production, remote play-by-play, live remotes, and sports video production. Graduate with a diploma in Sports Broadcasting.

What sets this Program apart

You won't just study sports broadcasting — you'll do it. Produce and present your own sports shows in industry-relevant broadcast studios, train on tools like the TriCaster system, and graduate with a standout demo reel and portfolio. Through ACTIVATOR, you'll gain real-world experience across the seven-school network, including live remotes and live production events.

Admission Requirements and Process

Getting started is straightforward. You'll need a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED) — accepted proof includes your high school diploma or transcript, a GED diploma or transcript, a DD-214 with high school equivalency notation, or a transcript from an accredited college showing an earned high school diploma. (If your records are unavailable due to circumstances beyond your control, the school can use the CELSA or TABE assessment instead.) You'll also complete a short Online Readiness Assessment (80% or higher) to make sure hybrid and online coursework is a good fit. From there, your own admissions representative will guide you through every step — including a campus tour and a meeting with financial aid. Just be sure everything is complete and you're formally accepted by your program's start date.

Cost of Attendance and Financial Aid Information

Here is what your program costs:

  • tuition of two (2) terms at $9,220.00, which totals $18,440.00

  • a one-time registration fee of $125.00 and a technology fee of $30.00 upon enrollment, which equals a Total Program Cost of $18,595.00

There are no finance charges and no interest. All course materials you'll need are provided by the school and included in tuition. You'll just supply your own basics — pens, paper, and your own headphones — which typically adds about $50–150 in out-of-pocket expenses.

Financial aid is available for those who qualify: students receiving assistance under Federal Title IV programs (Pell Grants, Direct Student Loans) are subject to Federal regulations, and the Financial Aid Office can walk you through your options.

The school also offers a College Completion Grant ($3,000 — $1,500 per semester — if you already hold a bachelor's or master's degree and stay in good academic standing) and a Need-Based Grant when funds are available. A Tuition Installment Plan is offered alongside your enrollment agreement.

Career Outcomes

You'll be prepared for entry-level sports media roles like production assistant, sports writer/reporter, and assistant producer — stepping stones toward anchor, commentator, or producer roles. As a graduate, you'll have access to the school's full-time Career Services Department, which continually receives job inquiries from employers looking to hire graduates. While the school works hard to help you launch your career, job placement is not guaranteed.

What to expect as a Be On Air student

Expect to learn by doing. You'll train hands-on in the school's studios and facilities, and gain real-world experience through the ACTIVATOR program — internships and media collaborations across the seven-school network, live remotes, and live production events. You'll also get one-on-one career services support from enrollment through graduation. Want to see it for yourself? Book a campus tour to meet students and instructors. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
