Program Overview

Hybrid delivery. This is the hybrid (online and residential) version of the program: 300 of the 1,650 hours are theory delivered online and the rest is taught on campus. Coursework that is delivered through distance education is completed at a location determined by the student.

The Cosmetology 102 program is a 1650-hour program combining the basic services, theories and principles of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences 1500-hour program required for state board licensing and 150 hours of Makeup training utilizing the Make-up Designory (MUD) curriculum. The program length for the Day Schedule is 48 weeks and the Evening Schedule is 66 weeks. The Makeup Artistry portion of the program adds an additional level of skills to the student’s training and expertise. Bellus Academy students are trained using the Bellus Cutting and Color system, which utilizes verbal, written, visual and hands-on instruction throughout the classroom and clinic floor practicum. Along with high-quality technical training students will learn career development skills such as client consultation, business tracking systems and marketing strategies, as well as receiving Financial Literacy training.

Cosmetology 102 is an extension of the cosmetology program that provides an additional 150 hours of Make-up Designory (MUD) curriculum to the existing 1500 hours. This results in a comprehensive 1650-hour program that covers hair, skin, and nails. The makeup artistry training includes various topics such as skin analysis, color theory, application techniques, portfolio building, marketing, networking, and additional business management skills.

As the makeup industry continues to experience consistent growth and momentum, Bellus Academy is proud to be one of the select schools to partner with internationally acclaimed brand Make-up Designory (MUD), a leader in beauty trends and innovative techniques. Students are equipped with a professional MUD branded kit and perform makeup looks ranging from bridal and theatrical to airbrush techniques.

The Cosmetology 102 program provides extensive training in advanced signature haircutting, hair coloring, hair extensions, facials and brow shaping, hair removal, and basic makeup. Students learn to perform core services, including hair extensions, lash lifts, eyelash extensions, and manicures and pedicures. Coursework includes training in infection control and equipment safety, plus relevant state laws.

On the other hand, hybrid programs combine in-person and online learning. Students can complete theoretical coursework and certain assignments online, while practical training and hands-on experience are still conducted in-person. Hybrid programs offer flexibility, allowing you to balance your studies with other commitments while still receiving valuable in-person instruction.
What are the advantages of choosing a hybrid program?
Hybrid programs provide a flexible learning option that accommodates students’ busy schedules. They offer the convenience of online learning for theoretical aspects, while maintaining the crucial hands-on training component through in-person sessions. Hybrid programs can be particularly beneficial for students who may have work or family commitments that make attending traditional in-person classes challenging. This format allows students to personalize their learning experience while still receiving essential practical training under the guidance of our experienced educators.
