Applied Communication Program Certificate

This certificate will cover public relations, media writing, digital media fundamentals, interpersonal communication, audio production, and a capstone. It is designed to prepare students with contemporary skills at multimedia and in-person communication. Students should have an interest in developing their spoken and written communication skills, using digital and audio tools in multimedia and interpersonal settings. Students will study different aspects of communication and their application in careers related to arts management. Students also will complete a capstone course. Students who complete the curriculum requirements receive a Program Certificate in Applied Communication. The Applied Communication Certificate may stack into the following Associate in Applied Science degrees: The Associate in Applied Science degrees may stack into the following Bachelor of Applied Science degree: The applied communication skills in this certificate are key to a wide array of contemporary careers, including entrepreneurship and management in the fine and performing arts but also in business and industry careers requiring in-person interaction and multimedia communication. Career possibilities: Studio Artist, Teacher, Art Agent, Illustrator, Curator, Art Director, Set Director, Set Designer, Gallery Director, Jewelry Designer, Fashion Designer, Industrial Designer, Interior Designer, Computer Artist, Graphic Artist, Commercial Artist, Animator, and Retail Display Designer BSC has partnerships with community arts organizations, including Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra, Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus, and Capital Shakespeare. Through these partnerships, BSC students begin making connections with the community and establishing outside relationships well before they finish their program of study.
