Program Overview

Degrees Offered: AAS Program Begins: Fall, Spring, Summer Delivery Method: Online, On Campus Phone: 701-224-5486 Email: bsc.has@bismarckstate.edu With an ever-changing workplace, many employers desire graduates who have well-rounded educational backgrounds including skills from multiple disciplines. The Integrated Studies degree is designed to allow students to combine three unique short-term certificates (16+ credits each) into an Integrated Studies Associate in Applied Science Degree. Combinations of certificates would be unique to a student’s interest areas and could include coursework from fields such as cybersecurity, business/management/human resources, entrepreneurship, accounting, or any of the many technical fields from which students are enrolled. The Integrated Studies degree empowers students to customize their degree and connect skills based on educational and professional goals. The short-term certificates within this degree path are designed to provide workforce-ready technical skills in addition to strengthening critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, and communication skills. Students should be able to clearly articulate individual career goals. Students are recommended to work with an advisor to customize their education plan to align with their career goals. Students who complete the curriculum requirements earn an Associate of Applied Studies. Additional coursework may lead to a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree. Students will be required to complete an individual degree plan with an advisor. The program of study includes a minimum of 60 semester credit hours derived from 3 unique short-term certificates from multiple program areas. The Integrated Studies program provides opportunities for career advancement, increased job responsibility, or preparation for alternative employment. Development of additional certificates is in progress.

Tuition and Fees

Total Program Tuition

The catalog publishes no credit total for this award.

Bismarck State charges tuition by the SUBJECT of each course rather than by program, so a single price for the award would be misleading. The college's published 2026-2027 resident rates per credit are:

  • General 100/200-level subjects (ENGL, MATH, BADM, CIS and similar) — $195.09
  • Technical 100/200-level subjects (WELD, AUTO, HVAC, ELEC, CARP and similar) — $239.43
  • Nursing (NURS) — $279.84
  • Any 300/400-level course in a Bachelor of Applied Science — $251.68

Uncapped mandatory fees add $57.12 per credit plus a $7.15 technology fee. Connect ND and NDSA fees are capped at 12 credits a term. Because most awards mix general and technical subjects, the total depends on the specific courses taken.
