Program Overview
Location(s): General education courses are offered at all BC locations. Program specific courses are available at A. Hugh Adams Central Campus, the Judson A. Samuels South Campus, and the North Campus. The student may select the campus site they want to attend for the duration of the program on initial registration for the first nursing courses, then all courses are taken on the selected campus. Any requests for transfer of campus must be approved by the Associate Dean. Program Entrance Requirements: This is a limited access program. Students are required to complete a supplemental application and meet specific criteria. Admission into the Generic-RN option begins every August, January and May. After acceptance into the Nursing Program, students are required to complete a Medical History and Physical Examination. Acceptance is provisional based upon the approved health evaluation documents. Students are also required to provide a satisfactory criminal background check and HHS/OIG clearance and drug screening. Students must be able to meet the Performance Standards for the Nursing Program to ensure the safety of both the student and the patient(s) under their care. The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing is designed to prepare the student for a career as a registered nurse. The mission of the Broward College Program of Nursing is to prepare competent, caring, culturally sensitive, entry level nursing graduates for meaningful employment as professional registered nurses.
