Program Overview
The A.A.S. in Health Information Technology (HIT) program is a 60-credit hour curriculum that prepares students to identify and use a variety of informational resources and technologies to effectively perform entry-level skills in health information positions. The program provides basic training in computers, health information content and management, quality improvement, coding and reimbursement, legal aspects of health information, and management of health care delivery systems. HESI A2 Assessment Exam must be taken with a passing score of 40 or higher before taking any additional courses in this pathway.
Must have official HIT A.A.S. Degree Program acceptance letter from HIT program coordinator prior to taking HITT 1341 or any HITT courses in Semesters 2, 3 and 4.
Required criminal background check/drug screening, immunizations, health insurance, and liability insurance must be completed and/or in place prior to clinical assignment.
