Program Overview
The Welding Applications Level II Certificate and the AAS consist of the same welding courses. The only difference between them is the AAS requires a small amount of additional academic coursework that the certificate does not require. Upon completion, students should possess the skills and knowledge for successful careers in welding. The welding portion of both awards prepares students to successfully apply technical knowledge and skills in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) to join or cut metal surfaces. Students are able to choose from three different emphasis: Multiple Welding Process, Pipe Welding and Fitting, or Fabrication. Courses that complete the certificate, the Rising Welder Level I certificate (RW) and the Structural Welding Level I Certificate (SW) are noted below.
