Program Overview

This certificate is designed to provide entry-level tech support skills needed to assist customers, clients, or members of a firm or organization. Graduates field telephone calls and email messages from customers seeking guidance on technical problems. They diagnose the problem patiently and walk the customer through the problem-solving steps. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are needed. Course(s) may be substituted for POFI 1301 for those who demonstrate current computer literacy. Courses that complete the Help Desk/User Support Technician Certificate and Google IT Professional Skills Achievement Award (G) are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites, as long as the student completes the TSI waiver form prior to enrollment.
