Program Overview

This program is designed to train students to meet entry-level technician requirements in the field of outdoor power equipment and other small engine mechanical industries. This will include theory, diagnosis, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of engine and accessories used on lawn mowers, garden tractors, chain saws, recreational ATV/UTV, and other small engine powered equipment. Included in this program is the study of fuel, electrical systems, engine overhaul, tune-up, drive systems, and other related equipment service. Throughout the entire program an emphasis is placed on accepted shop techniques used throughout the powered equipment industry. Courses that complete the Power Equipment Technology Certificate and the Power Equipment Occupational Skills Award (OSA) are noted below.

Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
