Program Overview
This award is for students who wish to learn about Linux commands, file system structure, system editors and simple shell programming. Upon completion, the student will have acquired the skills needed for employment in the networking industry as an entry-level Linux administrator. The award also provides preparatory training for those wishing to take the Linux+ or RedHat RHEL certification exam(s). Courses that complete the certificate are noted below.
Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
Basic understanding of personal computer and operating systems as obtained in ITSC 1401 or BCIS 1405 or COSC 1301 or equivalent experience approved by designated personnel.
