Electrical Drafting & Estimating is a Certificate program offered by Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, MN. The program takes 1 year to complete, with a total tuition of $18,432.
Program Overview
Electrical designers and estimators are in-demand, bridging the gap between the field, the engineers, and the front office.
Designed for working professionals in the electrical field, the Electrical Drafting & Estimating Certificate provides industry training in electrical design and electrical estimating. All course sessions are online, taught by experts who have worked professionally in the field, and either take place in the evening or can be completed at any time during the week.
Learn the software and the tools to become an integral part of the electrical team as you work with engineers in drafting the electrical specifications used by electricians in the field. Gain the skills and knowledge to build construction documents, develop schedules, and estimate the cost of a project. Use industry-current software, including 3D drafting and lighting software, to become a sought-after professional in the electrical design field.
Instruction is project-based so that you learn and practice skills that are directly applicable to the electrical industry.
Students should have at least five years of experience in the electrical industry before enrolling in the certificate program. Credits earned in the Electrical Drafting & Estimating certificate directly transfer into Dunwoody’s Electrical Construction Design & Management associate’s degree.
All students in the program receive a laptop loaded with the construction, estimating, and design software needed for their coursework.
The software suite includes the same programs and products you’ll find in industry, including: REVIT, Bluebeam Revu, Accubid, NavisWorks, Visual Studio, Microsoft Suite, and AutoCAD.
Students also have the option of becoming an AutoDesk REVIT MEP Certified Professional as part of the program.
Don’t have industry experience? Check out the two-year Electrical Construction Design & Management degree, which has both online and on-campus options.
International Students. This program is an official STEM Designated Degree Program, as listed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) qualifying it to fulfill the STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension requirement for the F-1 student visa.
