Program Overview
If you are passionate about caring for animals, then the Veterinary Technician program might be a good fit for you. This program will prepare you to collect patient history and perform the initial physical exam, place intravenous catheters and administer medications, anesthetize and monitor patients, and assist in surgery for both large and small animals. You’ll also gain the skills to perform dental cleanings on dogs and cats, and handle, restrain and care for rats, mice, rabbits and birds. Plus, you’ll learn how to apply bandages and splints on both large and small animals, evaluate lab samples under the microscope and accurately document records.

Admissions Requirements
Submit a final, official high school transcript or an official copy of GED/HSED certification scores. Current high school students must submit an official in-progress transcript and a final official transcript after graduation.

NOTE: Your program requires that you complete Animal Anatomy and Physiology which has the following prerequisite: 1 credit HS Chemistry OR Gen Chemistry (10-806-134) with C or better. Gen Chem requires an Algebra Accuplacer score of 250 or higher.
Veterinary Technician Program students are required to be vaccinated for Rabies; To ensure your safety, you will be required to provide Rabies vaccination documentation prior to the start of core coursework.
