The AAS degree in Natural Resources Management is a technical degree track of two years designed to give students hands-on opportunities in the field of natural resources while learning the theory behind the procedures. At the same time, students take courses to assist in the transfer to a four-year institution. Students earn certifications in Wildland Firefighting, chain saw safety, boating safety, Certified Interpretive Guide, Leave No Trace, Pesticide Application, Fish Iowa!, etc. Students learn skills in timber stand improvement, prairie restoration, aquatic management, and writing management plans. Students also complete a general education core.
