MAJOR: MASSAGE THERAPY. Certificate: Massage Therapy. Time: 9 months. Contact Hours: 750. Campuses: Albuquerque, Grand Junction, Pueblo. Objective: Graduates will have developed massage therapy skills through hands on applications in and out of the classroom and lab setting. Graduates will complete the program with the necessary skills to perform Swedish, Therapeutic, and Deep Tissue Massage Therapy, Massage techniques for specific injuries, detailed client assessments, session documentation, and treatment planning. Graduates will gain knowledge about the various work options Massage Therapists have in the industry including working as an employee or in an independent practice, and how to market themselves and their practice. Graduates will have knowledge and practice to prepare them to sit for their Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEX) which is necessary for obtaining their Massage Therapy license in the State of Colorado and New Mexico. Graduates will also have enough contact hours to register to be Certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). (The NCBTMB is only available in Colorado.) Admission Requirements and Process
Education: Documentation of a U.S. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. This must be received prior to the student starting class. In circumstances where a copy of the above is unavailable, IntelliTec will accept the below: A DD-214 that identifies the student has acquired a High School Diploma or equivalent; An official transcript from an accredited college that indicates the student has completed 24 or more credits at a passing grade; A Foreign High School Diploma if it is equivalent to a U.S. High School Diploma. If documents are only in a foreign language, they must be translated by a certified translator. A student also may be eligible for admission without the above if they are eligible for the Eligible Career Pathway Program (ECPP) through Ability to Benefit (ATB). Age: All students must be 16 years or older to enroll in all programs, excluding the below: Massage Therapy: Students must be 18 years old at the time of enrollment. Students under 18 will require a parent or legal guardian to sign the enrollment agreement. Additionally, all applicants must complete an interview with a school admissions representative to determine desire, ability and commitment, receive a tour of the campus, and review the school catalog. A personal interview with a member of the admissions staff is required to ensure the prospective student understands the nature of the training and programs offered. IntelliTec College reserves the right to deny admission to anyone who is not reasonably capable of successfully completing and benefiting from the training offered.

Class hours per week: 20/25 in MT-180. Course Schedule: MT-180 - Monday - Friday, Day Students 9:00am - 2:00pm, Clock Hour. All Other Classes - Monday - Thursday, Day Students 9:00am - 2:00pm, Night Students 5:00pm-10:00pm (schedule is dependent on campus location), Clock Hour.

As a graduate of the IntelliTec College Massage Therapy program you'll be fully prepared to sit for the following industry certifications: Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEX) administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards; CPR Certification. Massage Therapists may work in a variety of health, wellness, and personal care settings, including spas, massage clinics, chiropractic offices, wellness centers, fitness centers, resorts, salons, rehabilitation settings, or private practice.
