Admission Requirements and Process

Applicants desiring to enter Keiser University must submit an application to the Admissions Office well in advance of the start date. This permits proper scheduling and assures availability of classroom space. Applications for winter, spring or fall semesters should be made as early as possible, as these entry dates are normally the time of greatest enrollment.

For students enrolling at Keiser University, credit for courses or degrees completed at another institution is subject to approval by the Dean of Academic Affairs. These courses or degrees must be similar in content and duration to those offered in the program for which an applicant has applied. The Dean of Academic Affairs makes the final decision of accepted transfer credits from the received transcript. However, only courses listed on official transcripts receive permanent official transfer credit. (To grant such credit, Keiser University must receive official transcripts--- those mailed directly to Keiser University by the previous institution---by the end of a student’s first semester.) Keiser University requires that, at a minimum, a student complete the final 25% of a program through the University. Active duty, reservists, and National Guard service members who are students can complete at a minimum 25% of a program at any time through the University and graduate. Transfer students are informed in writing of any credits accepted as transferable. Preliminary notification is presented, in most cases, prior to enrollment but in no case later than the end of a transfer student's first semester. Students are responsible for having official transcripts sent to Keiser University from their former institution(s). It may be necessary for students to forfeit some previously earned credit in the transfer process since college philosophies, objectives and programs may vary and change from year to year. Therefore, Keiser University makes no blanket statement or promise of acceptance of credits from any other institution.

Can I get an applied engineering degree online at Keiser University?
Yes. Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science in Applied Engineering offers both online and on-campus options. Students receive the same quality instruction, support, and resources across all delivery methods.
What's the difference between applied engineering and a traditional engineering degree?
A traditional engineering degree (such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering) typically focuses more on theoretical principles, design, and research. It also uses advanced mathematics and scientific principles to design new products and systems. An applied engineering degree emphasizes practical skills, hands-on experience with systems and equipment, and immediate application of engineering principles to solve real-world problems. Applied engineering graduates often work in technical roles supporting engineering projects, manufacturing operations, quality control, and systems maintenance.
What careers can I pursue with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Engineering?
Graduates can pursue careers as field service technicians, manufacturing engineers, quality control specialists, systems integration technicians, automation engineers, process engineers, maintenance engineers, production supervisors, and engineering management positions across industries including aerospace, manufacturing, electrical systems, and environmental engineering.
Can I transfer credits from another institution?
Yes, Keiser University accepts transfer credits for undergraduate and graduate-level programs. Our admissions team will work with you to review your transcripts and determine your transfer eligibility. Credits transfer based on several factors including accreditation and course equivalency. Learn more about credit transfer requirements and eligibility requirements.
Can I pursue graduate programs after completing this bachelor's degree?
Absolutely. The Bachelor of Science in Applied Engineering prepares students to pursue graduate programs in engineering, engineering management, business, or other fields. Many graduates continue their education to advance into leadership roles or specialized technical positions.
What kind of hands-on experience will I get?
Students work with industry-level tools and equipment throughout the program. You’ll gain experience with electrical and mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, control systems, diagnostic equipment, and computer programming. The Senior Design Project provides an opportunity to apply everything you’ve learned to a comprehensive real-world project.
How long does it take to complete the program?
The program takes approximately 35 months to complete for students enrolled full-time. The actual time to graduation varies based on transfer credits, course load, and individual circumstances.
What's the job market like for applied engineering graduates?
The job market for applied engineering graduates remains strong across multiple industries. Manufacturing, aerospace, construction, environmental engineering, and technology sectors all need skilled professionals who can bridge the gap between engineering theory and practical application. Engineering management roles continue to grow as industries seek professionals who understand both technical systems and business operations. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) anticipates robust growth in engineering occupations, from 2024 to 2034, employment for several engineering occupations is projected to grow faster than the 3.1-percent average for all occupations.
What mathematics and science courses will I need to take?
