Credit for courses or degrees completed at another institution is subject to approval by the Dean of Academic Affairs. These courses or degrees must be similar in content and duration to those offered in the program for which an applicant has applied. The Dean of Academic Affairs makes the final decision of accepted transfer credits from the received transcript. However, only courses listed on official transcripts receive permanent official transfer credit. To grant such credit, Keiser University must receive official transcript directly from the previous institution by the end of a student’s first semester. Keiser University requires that, at a minimum, a student complete at least one third of the credit hours required for any graduate or post-baccalaureate professional degree through instruction offered by Keiser University. Active duty, reservists, and National Guard service members who are students can complete at a minimum one third of a program at any time through the University. Transfer students are informed in writing of any credits accepted as transferable. Preliminary notification is presented, in most cases, prior to enrollment but in no case later than the end of a transfer student's first semester. Students are responsible for having official transcripts sent to Keiser University from all former institution(s). It may be necessary for students to forfeit some previously earned credit in the transfer process since college philosophies, objectives and programs may vary and change from year to year. Keiser University does not make any blanket assurances or guarantees regarding the acceptance or transferability of credits from other institutions. Each credit evaluation is conducted on a caseby-case basis in accordance with university policy.

Keiser University may accept transfer credits from a college or university recognized by the by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Coursework must be equivalent in content, level, and credit hours to the corresponding Keiser University course/s.

Top Questions About Earning a Doctor of Business Administration, DBA

What is the difference between a DBA and a PhD in Business?
A Doctor of Business Administration focuses on the application of business theory and research to real-world practice — making it ideal for experienced business professionals who want to advance their expertise and contribute to the field through applied scholarship. A PhD in business tends to emphasize theoretical research and is more commonly pursued by those whose primary goal is an academic research career. Both are terminal degrees, and both can lead to faculty positions and senior leadership roles.
Who should pursue a DBA?
The DBA is designed for experienced business professionals — those who already hold an MBA or equivalent graduate degree and want to deepen their expertise, contribute to business scholarship, or advance into senior executive, consulting, or academic roles. It suits professionals who want to develop research skills and apply them to the business challenges they know from practice.
What specializations are available in this DBA program?
Keiser’s DBA program offers three specialization tracks: Marketing, Management, and Global Business. Students choose the track that best aligns with their professional goals and research interests.
Can I complete the DBA while working full-time?
Yes. The program is delivered fully online in accelerated 8-week terms, specifically designed for working professionals. Most students complete the degree while maintaining their careers. The structure allows you to progress at a pace that fits your professional and personal commitments.
Can I transfer credits from another institution?
Keiser University’s Graduate School welcomes transfer credits from accredited institutions, subject to evaluation and approval. Key transfer credit policies include: Master’s degree students may transfer up to 12 graduate-level credits (master’s or doctoral level) from an accredited college or university, provided the courses are equivalent to relevant Keiser University courses. Doctoral degree students may transfer up to 18 graduate-level credits (master’s or doctoral level) with evaluation and approval. Undergraduate credits are not transferable to graduate-level programs. Credits from non-accredited institutions that are substantially equivalent in content may be granted on a course-by-course basis. Transfer credits from non-U.S. institutions are evaluated through an approved educational evaluator service confirming equivalency to coursework at a U.S. accredited institution. Acceptable courses must be equivalent to a grade of B or higher; courses with a Pass or Satisfactory grade may be considered at the discretion of the Dean. Credit transfer benefits: students who have earned credits at other institutions may be able to apply them toward their degree, helping reduce overall tuition costs and time to completion. Credit transfer is subject to evaluation and approval. For full details, refer to the Graduate School transfer of credit FAQ and Transfer Credits Policy
Is financial aid available for DBA students?
Yes. Students enrolled in Keiser University’s DBA program may access the same financial aid resources as other graduate students, including scholarships and loan programs for those who qualify. Simply ask your Financial Aid Officer for more information during the financial aid process. For more details, refer to the Graduate School Prospective Students FAQ.
Is the DBA program accredited?
Keiser University holds institutional accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The business programs, including the DBA, also carry accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Learn more about Keiser University accreditation.
How long does the DBA take to complete?
The program requires 60 credit hours and typically takes 24 to 42 months to complete, depending on course load and the transfer credits accepted. Keiser’s 8-week term format allows motivated students to progress efficiently while managing professional responsibilities.
What is the admission requirement for this doctoral program?
View the full Admission Requirements for current details or speak with an admissions advisor. Applicants must submit a graduate school application, pay the $55 application fee, and provide an unofficial master’s or doctoral transcript from an accredited institution (official transcripts are required by the end of your first semester). Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 CGPA, submit a resume or curriculum vitae, and provide a personal statement outlining their life experiences, educational achievements, career goals, and potential contributions to society. Applicants with foreign transcripts must also provide a foreign credential evaluation with a calculated CGPA. Additional requirements may apply to specialty programs.
What career paths does a DBA open?

The degree is a terminal credential that signals the highest level of business expertise and scholarly achievement.
