Radiologic Technology

Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology provides both educational and clinical foundation for students entering the medical imaging field. The program prepares students to produce radiographic images following standardized practices and procedures established by the radiologic sciences community.
 
Students learn medical terminology, patient care procedures, radiographic procedures, radiation protection, equipment operation, and image production and evaluation. The radiologic technology curriculum emphasizes critical thinking skills, communication skills, and technical skills necessary for competent entry-level practice. Through community clinical partnerships, students integrate clinical competence with radiation safety, professional and ethical behavior, and effective communication with patients and members of the healthcare team.

Program Highlights

The radiologic technology program at Keiser University consists of two general education semesters followed by four core curriculum semesters, totaling six semesters or 24 months. Keiser University conducts courses year-round with scheduled breaks, offering three start times per year during Winter, Summer, and Fall semesters.

The radiologic technology curriculum follows a sequential design where each program course serves as a prerequisite for the subsequent course. Students must complete each course in sequential order to progress throughout the program, ensuring they build knowledge and clinical competency systematically.

Prerequisites

Students entering the Radiologic Technology major courses must meet these requirements:

• Background check and drug screening when applicable
• Minimum grade of “C” for general education courses
• Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

All general education courses must show successful completion with the required cumulative GPA before students enter the radiologic technology program. Students who don’t meet the 3.0 GPA requirement cannot enter the radiologic technology core curriculum.

Clinical Education

Clinical Education is an integral part of the curriculum of the Radiology Technology program. The program affiliates with a variety of clinical sites geographically dispersed throughout the surrounding area (for locations of the program’s JRCERT recognized clinical affiliates refer to , type in campus of interest. The clinical education component will consist of forty-hour weeks in an assigned facility for supervised practice of acquired knowledge and skills. Clinical assignments may include day, evening, and weekend assignments. Expenses related to clinical education, including clinical education site requirements, travel and food are the responsibility of the student. Prior to clinical assignments students will be required to provide proof of health insurance, along with health records reflecting immunizations, titers and lab tests (TB test, MMR, Varicella, Tetanus, Hepatitis B). The student will also be required to complete specific instruction and training for: CPR certification, OSHA/HIV, HIPAA and other field related areas the Program and University deem necessary. It is also recommended the student receive the Hepatitis B vaccine. Flu immunization is required by some clinical education sites.
