Nursing (RN to BSN)

The Accelerated BSN follows Keiser's one-class-at-a-time model delivered in four-week terms, with new classes starting regularly. The upper-division nursing major is organized into a four-semester sequence that can be completed in as few as about 16 months once general education and prerequisites are in place.

The full baccalaureate comprises 120 total credit hours, of which 76 credit hours are the upper-division nursing major (approximately 20 nursing courses). Instruction combines lectures, on-campus skills and simulation labs, and supervised clinical rotations in hospitals, outpatient clinics, community health centers, and specialty settings covering medical-surgical, maternal-child, mental health, community, and advanced care.

To progress, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and earn a grade of "B" or higher in nursing core courses. Availability of day, evening, and on-campus formats varies by campus; the pre-licensure nursing major is campus-based because of its clinical and lab requirements.

The nursing major progresses from foundational science and assessment courses into pharmacotherapeutics, evidence-based practice, and increasingly advanced care-management and clinical courses. Representative courses are listed below.

Required Courses

Keiser University charges tuition per 16-week semester based on scheduled credit hours; a full-time load (12–17.99 credits) is approximately $12,408 per semester (per Keiser's Undergraduate Tuition & Fee Disclosure, subject to annual review). For the four-semester accelerated nursing sequence this works out to an estimated $49,600 range for the upper-division nursing portion for students who enter with general education and prerequisites already completed. This is an estimate only: actual cost depends on transfer credits accepted, the credit load scheduled each term (nursing terms can exceed the standard full-time band), and any per-course resource, lab, or clinical fees that pre-licensure nursing programs may carry. Students who qualify may fund their education through federal aid — Pell Grant, FSEOG, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, and Federal Work-Study — as well as Florida programs (FSAG and EASE), institutional scholarships, and veterans and military education benefits. Filing the FAFSA (School Code 015159) each year is the first step.

Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN examination, the national licensure exam required to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).

BSN-prepared registered nurses work across a wide range of settings, including:

• Acute care and medical-surgical units
• Emergency departments and intensive/critical care units
• Pediatric, maternal-child, and women's health nursing
• Mental and behavioral health nursing
• Oncology, rehabilitation, and specialty care
• Home health, community and public health, and outpatient clinics
• School and occupational health nursing

The baccalaureate credential also positions graduates for future charge-nurse and leadership responsibilities and for graduate study toward advanced practice, education, or administration roles.

Expect an intensive, immersive pace. Because you take one nursing course at a time in four-week terms, each subject moves quickly and demands consistent daily study and preparation. Progression standards are firm: you must keep a 3.0 cumulative GPA and earn a "B" or higher in nursing core courses to advance.

Beyond the classroom, plan for scheduled time in on-campus skills and simulation labs and for supervised clinical rotations at partner healthcare sites, which may include day, evening, and weekend hours that vary by placement. Before starting clinicals you will need to clear a background check and drug screening and provide up-to-date immunizations and health documentation, consistent with the Florida Nurse Practice Act and clinical-site requirements.

You will practice hands-on nursing skills, work with realistic patient simulators, and build the clinical judgment, professionalism, and time-management habits expected of a practicing RN — all with support from faculty who bring real clinical experience and small class sizes that allow individualized attention.
