Imaging Sciences is a Bachelor Degree program offered by Keiser University in Melbourne, FL. The program takes 4 Years to complete.

Program Overview

Keiser University's Bachelor of Science in Imaging Sciences is a degree-completion program built for credentialed imaging professionals who already hold an associate degree, diploma, or certificate in a medical imaging discipline. It provides the academic foundation to move beyond hands-on scanning into leadership, management, and advanced clinical roles, letting working technologists build on the credential they already earned rather than starting over.

Students choose one of two concentrations. The Imaging Administration track focuses on healthcare leadership, radiology operations management, medical imaging policy, financial management, and accreditation and regulation, preparing technologists to run imaging departments. The Clinical Imaging track deepens technical expertise with advanced coursework in computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and cross-sectional anatomy, along with hands-on internship experiences that support post-primary certification eligibility.

Like all Keiser programs, coursework is delivered one class at a time in four-week terms, with new classes starting every month, so students can advance their education around a full-time clinical schedule. The program is offered on campus at select Florida locations, online, and in hybrid formats.

What sets this Program apart

  • Two focused concentrations — choose Imaging Administration for leadership and department management, or Clinical Imaging for advanced modality skills.
  • Designed for working technologists — a degree-completion format that builds directly on your existing associate degree or imaging credential.
  • Advanced clinical coursework in computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Leadership and operations curriculum covering imaging policy, radiology operations, financial management, and accreditation and regulation in imaging sciences.
  • Hands-on internship courses available through the Clinical Imaging Concentration, placing students in real healthcare settings.
  • Pathway toward post-primary certification eligibility for technologists advancing into additional modalities.
  • Flexible delivery — on-campus at multiple Florida campuses, online, and hybrid, with one class at a time in four-week terms.

Program Schedule

Coursework follows Keiser's signature one-class-at-a-time model, with each class delivered in a four-week term and new classes starting every month. As a degree-completion program, the total Bachelor of Science requires 122-128 credit hours, of which most students transfer in credit from their prior associate degree or imaging credential (up to 12 additional transfer credits may also apply). The remaining degree-completion coursework is typically around 24 courses.

Program length varies with the amount of credit transferred in. Keiser notes that students bringing substantial prior credit can complete the remaining requirements in as little as a few terms, while a full path runs roughly two years or more. Day, evening, online, and hybrid options are available at select Florida campuses, with average class sizes around 14:1.

The Clinical Imaging Concentration includes hands-on internship, practicum, and clinical-practice courses in real healthcare settings; students must maintain the professional licensure and any site-required clearances needed to participate in clinical placements.

Tuition at Keiser University is charged per 16-week semester by scheduled credit hours; a full-time load of 12-17.99 credits is approximately $12,408 per semester (Keiser Undergraduate Tuition & Fee Disclosure; subject to annual review). Because this is a degree-completion program, the total cost depends heavily on how many credits transfer in from your prior associate degree or imaging credential and how many of the 122-128 total credits remain to be completed at Keiser. Some courses may carry additional resource or lab fees; specific amounts are confirmed by your Program Director or Admissions Counselor. A one-time $55 application fee and $145 registration fee apply at enrollment (subject to annual review).

Financial aid is available for qualifying students, including federal Pell Grants, FSEOG, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, and Federal Work-Study; Florida student aid programs (FSAG and EASE); institutional scholarships; and veterans and military education benefits. Students should complete the FAFSA annually using School Code 015159. An estimate of personalized costs is available through Keiser's Net Price Calculator at https://www.keiseruniversity.edu/NPC-index.html.

Tuition is charged per 16-week semester (~$12,408 full-time); total varies by pace and transfer credit — see the Net Price Calculator.

Career Outcomes

Graduates are prepared to advance beyond front-line scanning into leadership, management, and specialized clinical roles across hospitals, imaging centers, and outpatient diagnostic settings. Typical roles include:

  • Radiology operations manager or imaging department director
  • Imaging administrator or radiology administrator
  • Modality supervisor or team lead (MRI, CT, sonography, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy)
  • Clinical imaging coordinator or imaging quality-management specialist
  • Medical imaging educator or consultant

For technologists in the Clinical Imaging Concentration, advanced modality coursework and clinical experience support eligibility for post-primary certification (for example, ARRT post-primary pathways in CT, MRI, and mammography) beyond an existing primary credential. Certification and licensure requirements are set by the relevant credentialing bodies and state boards; prospective students should confirm eligibility for their specific pathway.

What to expect as a Keiser University student

Expect a program designed to fit around a working imaging career: one class at a time in four-week terms, with day, evening, online, and hybrid options at select Florida campuses. Because it is a degree-completion program, you will build directly on the credential and credits you already hold rather than repeating foundational coursework.

Coursework blends healthcare leadership and operations with imaging-specific policy, financial management, and accreditation and regulation. Students in the Imaging Administration track focus on the management side of imaging services, while those in the Clinical Imaging track take advanced modality courses in CT, MRI, and cross-sectional anatomy and complete hands-on internships in clinical settings. Clinical-track students must keep their professional license active and meet any placement-site clearance requirements throughout their internship courses.

How long does the program take?
It varies with how much credit you transfer in. The full Bachelor of Science requires 122-128 credit hours; students bringing substantial prior imaging credit complete the remaining degree-completion coursework (about 24 courses in four-week terms) in a matter of terms, while fuller paths run roughly two years or more.
Can I keep working while enrolled?
Yes. Classes are taken one at a time in four-week terms with new starts every month, and online, hybrid, and evening options are available at select campuses, so the schedule is designed to accommodate working technologists.
How much does it cost?
Tuition is charged per 16-week semester by scheduled credits; a full-time load is about $12,408 per semester (subject to annual review). Total cost depends on how many credits transfer in and how many remain. Keiser University is institutionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). This degree-completion program does not require separate programmatic accreditation; SACSCOC accreditation supports federal financial aid eligibility, credit transfer, and employer recognition.
Will this program let me earn certification in a new modality?
The Clinical Imaging concentration's advanced coursework and clinical experiences support eligibility for post-primary certification (such as ARRT post-primary pathways in CT, MRI, or mammography) beyond your existing primary credential. Confirm specific eligibility with the applicable credentialing body.
How many credits can I transfer in?
Prior imaging degree/credential coursework applies toward the lower-division requirements, and up to 12 additional transfer credits may be accepted. Your official transcripts are evaluated to determine exactly what applies.
