Health Services Administration

Like all Keiser University programs, Health Services Administration uses a one-class-at-a-time model delivered in four-week terms, with new classes starting every month and small classes averaging roughly a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio. This focused format lets students concentrate on a single subject at a time while progressing steadily toward the degree.

The associate degree requires 60.0 credit hours and takes approximately 20 months of full-time study to complete. Classes are offered in day, evening, online, and hybrid formats at select campuses, giving working adults flexibility in how they attend. As an administrative program, it does not include a clinical rotation or externship; instead, applied learning occurs through coursework in healthcare computer applications, medical office administration and billing, and medical coding.

The curriculum combines 24.0 credit hours of major coursework in health services administration and business with 36.0 credit hours of general education. Representative major courses are listed below.

Required Courses

Tuition is charged per 16-week semester by the number of scheduled credit hours. For full-time enrollment (12-17.99 credits), tuition is approximately $12,408 per semester per the Keiser University Undergraduate Tuition & Fee Disclosure (subject to annual review). For a 60-credit-hour program completed full-time across about four semesters, estimated total tuition is roughly $49,600. Students also pay a one-time $55 application fee and a one-time $145 registration fee at enrollment (subject to annual review). Keiser notes that certain required and optional program fees may apply; specific amounts are provided in the university catalog and on student billing statements, and optional fees are not covered by GI Bill benefits.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify and may include the Federal Pell Grant, FSEOG, Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, and Federal Work-Study, along with Florida's FSAG and EASE programs, institutional scholarships, and veterans and military education benefits. Graduates are prepared for entry-level administrative and coordination roles across a range of healthcare settings, including hospitals, physician practices, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, and managed care organizations. Typical roles include:

• Medical office manager at a physician practice
• Health information management assistant
• Practice administrator at an outpatient clinic
• Administrative or health services coordinator at a nursing home
• Patient services coordinator at a managed care organization
• Medical records supervisor at a long-term care facility
• Medical billing supervisor or business operations coordinator

This is a non-clinical administrative degree, so it does not lead to a clinical license or a clinical-credentialing exam. It also serves as a foundation for continued study toward a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration for those seeking higher-level management positions.

Expect to take one class at a time in focused four-week terms, moving through both business and healthcare-administration subjects. Coursework is applied and computer-oriented, with training in medical office administration and billing, healthcare computer applications, CPT coding, and medical terminology alongside general education in English, mathematics, natural and social sciences, and the humanities.
