Child Development — Associate in Applied Science is an Associate Degree program (Hybrid) offered by Lawson State Community College in Bessemer, AL. The program takes two-year degree to complete.
Program Overview
Our Associate of Arts (AAS) two-year degree is 76 credits. To increase your earning power, many Child Development students continue their education. Although not a transfer degree (per se) some General Education classes do transfer and can be credited towards a 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education. Some Child Development majors eventually secure their bachelor's degrees in Education and teach.
Students graduating from Lawson's Child Development program are awarded with Associate in Applied Science 2-year degree. This is a non-transferable degree; however, any General Education classes (that are apart of this degree) can transfer.
(Advising Manual Course Sequence Guide (CSG)--AAS—Child Development: Total COMPLETED Credits for AA Degree Award: 65-68. Courses can be taken out of sequence if so, selected by the student and his/her advisor. Class offerings are not guaranteed. Students are encouraged to take Mini-term courses to speed up their graduation / completion date.)
