Electrical and Electronic Systems Technology

This program is designed to provide the essential skills and knowledge for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of commercial and residential entertainment, security, monitoring, and telecommunications systems. Students learn to install cable support structures; laying out and preparing pathways for wiring and cables; installing, securing, testing, and termination of wiring and cables both copper and fiber optic; program digital components and access controls to perform their designated tasks; install and set up media management systems; and perform system commissioning and user training of audio, video, and data systems. The program also prepares students on the essential skills and knowledge needed for entry-level residential electrician work. Students will train on the installation, service and maintenance areas of the residential electrical industry. They will also complete a 30-hour OSHA-approved safety orientation that explains job site hazards, accident prevention, and standard safety procedures. course Upon completion of this program, graduates can meet the minimum requirements needed to be qualified as an entry-level technician in the residential and/or commercial telecommunications, fire alarm, intrusion detection, and signaling, entertainment, audio/video/data, and energy management systems. Students can also qualify as entry-level residential electrician’s apprentice.

In addition to the technical training, a critical aspect of a Lincoln education is developing the professional skills that are required by our employers. Students will need to demonstrate skill proficiency through a series of professional development activities and seminars which are integrated into each course.

Admission Requirements

In order to be considered for acceptance, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

Be a high school graduate or possess a state-approved high school equivalency assessment including, but not limited to: a GED, HiSET or TASC examination; or possess an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Complete the Learner Assessment to determine readiness for academic success.

Have reliable internet connectivity and access to a device that meets the minimum systems requirements. See your Admissions contact for current systems requirements.

Provide a fully executed Enrollment Agreement. Admission Requirements – (Required for applicants of the Practical Nursing program) In order to be considered for acceptance into the Practical Nursing program, an applicant must meet the following additional requirements to those listed above:

be eighteen years of age on or before graduation of the Practical Nursing program;

complete a nursing entrance assessment exam with acceptable results as established by the school;

complete a criminal background investigation with acceptable results as established by the school

Admission Procedures

Persons desiring to make application for admission should

Be interviewed by an Admissions Representative or other member of the School staff.

Complete an Enrollment Agreement (Student Contract).

Submit documentation to meet the admission requirements.

Complete any required entrance examination or learner assessment. The nursing profession has specific requirements for a student to be placed at a clinical site. Therefore, as a condition of continued enrollment in the program, all nursing students must provide to the school the following medical documentation on or before the first week of classes.

Complete the school’s physical examination form including completion of required titers. Physical examination records must indicate ability to perform job duties.

Must be free of contagious and/or communicable disease.

Students must take and pass the CHA (Connecticut Hospital Association) Exam by the first day of class. Students must achieve a grade of 85% to attend clinical rotations.

Obtain American Heart CPR and AED certification for the HealthCare Provider for adults, children, and infants prior to the start of clinical.

A student must meet the essential institutional, academic, and technical standards requisite to admission, participation in, and completion of the program. Accommodation for changes in abilities may not be possible if the accommodation does not allow the student to meet the clinical competencies, standards, or facility mandates required for clinical training in the program.
