Computed Tomography (ATC)

• Computed Tomography is an advanced radiographic imaging modality that utilizes highly collimated fan- shaped x-ray beam and array of radiation detectors to produce cross-sectional images of human body structures and organs needed by physicians for diagnostic purposes. Computed tomographic images can be reconstructed in various anatomical orientations to demonstrate image details that allow for better visualization of pathology, diagnostic analysis, and radiologic interpretations.
• Program Highlights
• The LSC-Montgomery Computed Tomography program includes an experienced and supportive faculty and staff.
• The curriculum consists of 5 courses totaling 16 credit hours, and these are offered in one semester. The didactic education courses (8 credit hours) are offered online, while the clinical education courses (8 credit hours) are provided at affiliated clinical sites.
• Credentials and Careers
• The curriculum is designed to enable students to acquire knowledge in computed tomography physics, equipment operation/methodology, cross-sectional anatomy, patient care, and develop CT imaging skills, which give Medical Radiologic Technology (MRT) graduates an employment edge and increased career mobility.
• Transferability
• Computed Tomography program technical coursework are non-transferable.

• Prospective applicants seeking admission into the CT Certificate Program must
• be graduates of a 2-year JRCERT accredited program in Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine and
• hold current ARRT or equivalent certification.

• Prerequisite: Completion of a 2-year JRCERT accredited Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine Program and must hold current ARRT or equivalent certification.
• This award requires 16 credit hours in total.
• Lone Star College reports 592 contact hours for this award.

• Computed Tomography (CT) student will demonstrate readiness to successfully complete (pass at first attempt) the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) national certification/credentialing examination in CT.

• Tuition shown is the in-district rate of $111.00 per credit hour for 16 credit hours.
• Out-of-district Texas residents pay $249.00 per credit hour ($3,984.00); international and out-of-state students pay $313.00 per credit hour ($5,008.00).
• Lab fees vary by course and liability insurance, uniforms and supplies vary by program, so Lone Star College publishes no all-in total for this award. Tuition above excludes them.
• Financial aid and payment plans are available to most students.
• Application fee: none. Lone Star College applications are free.

Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible for advance credential certification in Computed Tomography.

• Final acceptance into the program, however, will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check and drug screening (as required by hospitals) that is completed by a college approved agency at the student's expense.
• The background check may need to be re-accomplished if requested by the clinical facility.
