- The Mechanical Design Technology Program prepares graduates for an entry-level career into the mechanical design field as an engineering designer. Courses within the program include technical drafting and design applications, preparation of design plans and layouts with the use of computer-aided design software, 3D solid modeling and design, as well as basic engineering science and manufacturing courses including advanced technical design projects, and general academic courses.

Students engage in mechanical part and assembly documentation, analysis, presentation, and reverse engineering.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Interpret designs and communicate effectively both through oral and written means.
- Solve engineering and survey problems by applying fundamental knowledge of mathematical, computational, scientific and engineering concepts.
- Demonstrate modern drafting techniques such as orthographic and isometric projection, section and auxiliary view.
- Create detail and assembly drawings to industry standards including Bill of Materials using 2-D Computer-Aided Design and Drafting and 3-D parametric solid modeling software.
- Demonstrate mechanical engineering concepts that would include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, manufacturing materials and design process
