- The Architectural Design Technology Program prepares graduates for entry-level careers as architectural designers. Graduates possess the technical skills and knowledge to perform essential design layout, prepare supporting documentation, and create finished production drawings in the architectural, construction, and/or manufacturing industries. Courses within the program include technical design applications, computer-aided design software, solid modeling design, construction materials and methods, statics, technical specialty courses, and general academic courses.

Students engage in building design, construction documentation, model making, presentation and rendering skills. We apply the latest software and hardware technology providing our students industry professionals with proven experience in this demanding field.
- Credentials and Careers
- The Architectural Design certificate program prepares graduates to perform essential design layout, prepare supporting documentation, and create finished production drawings in the architectural, construction, and manufacturing industries. A wide variety of employment opportunities are available.
- The Architectural Design Technology Associate of Applied Science degree prepares students for careers in architectural design for both residential and commercial building types. A drafting technician will produce construction documents in the architectural, engineering, MEP, civil, structural and/or manufacturing industries. Various CAD software and 3D printing technology will be used for producing documentation and 3D models.
- Transferability
- Program graduates may further their education at Lone Star College by applying to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing, and Trades Management.
- General education courses (Core) are designated for easy transfer to Texas public institutions and applicable to requirements at private and out-of-state institutions.
- Technical coursework may be transferable to other institutions.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Solve engineering and survey problems by applying fundamental knowledge of mathematical, computational, scientific and engineering concepts.
- Apply building codes, ADA requirements, ANSI standards, tables, and specifications in designing residential and commercial buildings.
- Interpret and investigate site parameters and the design process for building types.
