Robotics-Automated Manufacturing Technology (AAS)

• Men and women working as Field Service, Petroleum Field Service and Robotics Technicians complete highly technical tasks that require advanced training and knowledge. Due to the advancements in electro-mechanical systems, interdisciplinary fields are rapidly developing to address the design, operation and maintenance of products and systems that require a working knowledge of both mechanical and electronic components.

• Credentials and Careers
• The Field Service Technician Level 1 Certificate prepares students to install and maintain industrial service equipment, instrumentation, controls, and electro-mechanical systems. • The Robotics-Automated Manufacturing Technology Level 2 Certificate prepares a student for entry into the Oil and Gas industry with the hands-on knowledge of the supporting systems for the drilling, completion and operation of Oil and Gas wells.
• The Robotics-Automated Manufacturing Technology AAS prepares a student to enter the industrial automation industry with an emphasis in robotics, programmable logic controls and automatic electro-mechanical systems.
• Transferability
• Program graduates may further their education at Lone Star College by applying to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy, Manufacturing, and Trades Management.
• General education courses (Core) are designated for easy transfer to Texas public institutions and applicable to requirements at private and out-of-state institutions.
• Technical coursework may be transferable to other institutions.

• Prerequisite: Completion of Robotics-Automated Manufacturing Technology, Level 2 Certificate (48 Credit Hours)

• Demonstrate competence in the operation of basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems; and the use of flow meters and pressure gauges; interpret schematics and troubleshoot systems; display a systematic approach to troubleshooting; and design a schematic drawing of a working system.
• Demonstrate competence in the operation and programming of automated control systems.
• Demonstrate the skills needed to program, trouble-shoot, and maintain automated equipment used in the automated manufacturing & robotics industry.

• Tuition shown is the in-district rate of $111.00 per credit hour for 60 credit hours.
• Out-of-district Texas residents pay $249.00 per credit hour ($14,940.00); international and out-of-state students pay $313.00 per credit hour ($18,780.00).
• Lab fees vary by course and liability insurance, uniforms and supplies vary by program, so Lone Star College publishes no all-in total for this award. Tuition above excludes them.

Certificate issued by KUKA robotics upon successfully passing the KUKA certification exam.

• Please consult with a program advisor regarding selection of the math course required in the program. Student has the option to complete MATH 1314 - College Algebra, or TECM 1303 - Technical Calculations. The selection should be made after discussion with the program advisor regarding pathways and employment opportunities.
• Students who are classified as First Time in College (FTIC) will complete EDUC 1300 - Learning Framework: First Year Experience.
• Students who are not classified as First Time in College (FTIC) and have not yet demonstrated college-level readiness in reading and writing, will complete EDUC 1300 - Learning Framework: First Year Experience.
