Program Overview
- The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Technology is designed to prepare students to use electroneurodiagnostic techniques to evaluate activity of the brain, spinal cord and nervous system to perform electroencephalograms (EEGs), evoked potentials (EPs), and nerve conduction velocity studies (NCVs) in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. The program focuses on the general area of biomedical electronics with specific instruction in the theory and use of END instruments and factors influencing testing outcomes and reporting. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be prepared to sit for the American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) examination to become a Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (R. EEG T.).
- The most well-known electroneurodiagnostic procedure is the Electroencephalogram (EEG), which records the on-going electrical activity of the brain and assists in the diagnosis of a variety of neurological problems. An electroencephalographic (EEG) technologist scans the electrical impulse readout of a patient's brain. Using a variety of techniques and instruments, EEG Technologists record information about a patient's nervous system, providing valuable data that neurologists use to diagnose and treat conditions. Students learn techniques like electroencephalograms (EEGs), evoked potentials (EPs), and nerve conduction velocity studies (NCVs) in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Yes, in order to take the R. EEG. T exam (registry) they fall under pathway 1: Graduate of Program, current BLS, and Documentation of 50 EEGs.
Background Check
- Clinical affiliate facilities are now requiring all health care students to have a background check and a drug screen prior to clinical rotations. Students cannot begin or continue their studies until the background check process is satisfactorily cleared. The student is responsible for working with the background check company to clear up any reporting discrepancies prior to enrolling in the program.

- "If conduct has occurred that may be grounds for disciplinary action under the Violations to Standards of Practice and Disciplinary Process policy, then ABRET may place an application on hold while reviewing the matter. These will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. A criminal conviction may be grounds to deny or otherwise limit eligibility. Convictions of this nature include (but are not limited to) felonies involving rape, sexual abuse of a patient or child, and actual or threatened use of a weapon or violence. If a conviction resulted in a sentence that includes incarceration, then the individual is ineligible while in confinement."
