Program Overview
- Currently, LSC-Tomball has a partnership with Tomball ISD Innovation Center Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH). Only students attending P-TECH may participate in the Patient Care Technician program.
- The patient care technician curriculum is designed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as a patient care technician. The program provides competency in the fundamentals of patient care and basic nursing skills, imparting the knowledge and skills required of certified nursing aides, in addition to training in basic EKG and phlebotomy.
- Program Highlights
- Throughout the program, students will receive hands-on instruction from experienced professionals and can practice skills in modern labs and clinical settings. The content of the program is designed to provide the student with knowledge and skills related to medical terminology, anatomy and physiology of the human body, patient care and treatment, determining medical emergencies, hospital procedures, introduction to electrocardiogram, phlebotomy, and clinical practice.
- Credentials and Careers
- Program graduates will be eligible to obtain a Nurse Aide Certification, a Patient Care Technician Certification, a Phlebotomy Certification, and an EKG Technician certification, upon successfully passing the applicable certification examinations. Graduates will be qualified for employment at hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, home health, and other health care institutions under the supervision of a licensed vocational or registered nurse.

In addition to application requirements with Lone Star College, the student must also comply with the admission policy of, complete the application process for and be accepted into the Tomball ISD Innovation Center Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH).

- Out-of-district Texas residents pay $249.00 per credit hour ($3,735.00); international and out-of-state students pay $313.00 per credit hour ($4,695.00).
- Lab fees vary by course and liability insurance, uniforms and supplies vary by program, so Lone Star College publishes no all-in total for this award. Tuition above excludes them.
