CDL-B Truck Driver Training is a Certificate program (Hybrid) offered by Northeast Technical Institute in Bangor, ME. The program takes 3–6 weeks to complete, with a total tuition of $3,995.
Program Overview
NTI’s CDL A and CDL B truck driver training programs are designed to teach students safe operation of trucks and a working knowledge of the industry and its regulations. Each program consists of general training and Entry-Level Driver Training standards in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and State regulations. The CDL program has a hybrid delivery method available for the classroom portion of the program for students who meet all the requirements for this delivery method.
The CDL B Truck Driver Training Program prepares students to test for a Class B license. A Class B CDL lets you drive a single vehicle weighing 26,001 pounds or more without a trailer. It also allows you to operate any vehicle towing a trailer that weighs less than 10,000 lbs. Examples of trucks that may be driven with a Class B license include straight trucks, box trucks, and dump trucks. A Class B license also allows for the operation of some Class C vehicles with the correct endorsements.
This real world training begins with 50 hours of classroom instruction, and students must pass the final exam with an 80% in addition to passing the State written exam. Additionally, there are 20 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction on an off-road yard area and 10 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction on-road in rural and urban traffic areas.
Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT). The CDL-B Commercial Truck Driver program at NTI is designed to meet all ELDT requirements. And the school is registered on the FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR).
