This program is designed to provide the student with comprehensive training that combines theoretical knowledge through distance education (40%) and practical skills through face-to-face classes in the laboratory or campus (60%). The main objective is to train the student with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to obtain the license of Cosmetology from the state of Florida.
What you study. The program consists of 1500 hours in study units of 37.5 hours each. The theory, taught remotely, covers skin chemistry, color theory, product and equipment handling, and Florida regulations and laws; the face-to-face practice emphasizes hair cutting and styling, hair coloring, professional makeup, manicures, pedicures and advanced techniques in skin and hair care.
Hybrid delivery. 40 percent of the program is synchronous distance education on Zoom and Canvas, covering the theory in its entirety, and 60 percent is face-to-face practical classes in the campus laboratory. No practical service on real clients is performed by distance learning: 100% of practicum hours and assessments are on campus under the direct supervision of a licensed instructor. Distance education hours are not accepted for license reciprocity in all states, and transcripts identify the distance education component.

Admission Requirements and Process
Admission requirements. Applicants complete the application and admission agreement; are at least 16 years old; provide a high school diploma or an alternative (evidence of homeschooling, a GED, or a transcript showing high school completion or at least two years of a bachelor's degree program), with a foreign diploma verified by a qualified third-party agency; and pay the non-refundable $100.00 admission fee. Applicants 18 or younger need the signature of a parent or legal guardian. The institution does not participate in the Ability to Benefit program.
Starting classes. Classes begin once registration is complete and all admission requirements are met; admitted applicants can start as soon as the principal approves. Applicants acknowledge the 40 percent distance education component in writing.
Transfer students. Training from other beauty institutions may be credited with a grade average of at least 75%, but not from institutions teaching more than 40% online, and transfer students must complete at least 50% of the clock hours at Nouvelle Institute to receive its diploma.

Program Schedule
Class schedules. Daytime classes run Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (25 hours a week); evening classes run Monday to Thursday, 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (16 hours a week).
Starts. The school operates year-round, Monday to Friday; admitted applicants can begin as soon as the principal approves the start of class.
Closures. The 2026 calendar closes the school for Columbus Day (October 12), Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving (November 26 and 27) and the Christmas holidays from December 15, 2026 to January 7, 2027.
Program length. Day students attend 25 hours a week for 60 weeks (15 months, maximum 22.5 months); evening students 16 hours a week for 93.75 weeks (23 months, maximum 35 months).
Curriculum
Forty units, 1,500 clock hours. Each unit of study is 37.5 hours: 15 hours of synchronous distance education and 22.5 hours of face-to-face laboratory, with 695 practical services required across the program, as listed below. Instruction uses Zoom and Canvas for theory, written assessments with face-to-face evaluation, and practical demonstrations on campus.
Grading. Grades come from theoretical and practical exams: A (100%–90%), B (89%–80%), C (79%–75%) and F (74%–0%). Credit requires at least 75%, and students must attend at least 67% of attempted clock hours for satisfactory academic progress and finish within 150% of the program length.

Also charged. ID cards cost $3.00 and are non-refundable once issued. Students have no additional instructional charges when completing the program within 150% of its duration.
Financial aid. The institution offers the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and the Federal Work-Study Program for students who qualify, by completing the FAFSA with the Financial Aid department (federal school code 030892). Payment plans with weekly or bi-weekly payments are available to students who apply and qualify; payment is accepted by cash, certified or cashier's check, credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Cancellation and refunds. A student who cancels in writing within three business days of signing the agreement receives all monies back except the non-refundable admission fee. After that, the institution earns a share of the study cost by the percentage of the billing period scheduled: equal to cost through 40.00%, 50% through 50.00%, 60% through 60.00%, and 100% after 60.00%. Refunds are processed within 30 calendar days, and books, equipment and materials are additional institutional costs that are not refundable.
Career Outcomes
Careers. The occupational level of the program primarily includes the positions of Cosmetologist, Colorist, and Salon Administrator, with graduates able to take on administrative and managerial roles in the beauty industry.
Florida licensure. Graduates complete the program, pass the final exam administered by the Office of Academic Affairs, and apply for the Board examination with a $45.00 check or money order and a valid HIV certificate.
Graduation. Students graduate after completing the 1500 hours, meeting the satisfactory academic progress policy and passing all theoretical and practical exams with a minimum of 75%, and receive a diploma once financial obligations are met.
Employment services. The Job Placement Office helps students write resumes, complete job applications and prepare for interviews, and assists graduates at no cost, but cannot guarantee employment.
What to expect as a Nouvelle Institute student
Two campuses. The Miami main campus at 3271 NW 7th Street is approximately 8,500 square feet, and the Hialeah branch on the second floor of Palm Spring Mall, 500 West 49th Street, approximately 8,605 square feet. Both are accessible by public and private transportation, with parking.
Facilities. Each campus has administrative offices for student services, modern practice rooms, a reference area and library with internet service, and a recreational area, so students practice in an environment similar to the one they will work in once licensed.
Online classes. Students join Zoom classes with their camera and microphone on, verified by a unique identification code, and all assessments used to calculate the grade point average are taken on campus.
Taught in Spanish. Nouvelle Institute teaches all of its programs in Spanish, and the enrollment contract and catalog are in Spanish; a qualified instructor is available to assist in English when needed, and an English translation of documents can be obtained on request. The catalog warns: completing a course or program in a language other than English may reduce employability where English is required.
