Admission Requirements and Process

6. Pass a complete physical examination, which can be administered by a physician of your choice.

When you apply, you’ll need to submit a nonrefundable $25 application fee, which, if you’re accepted, will be applied to your $100 registration fee.

If you’re still in high school, you can apply for admission and may be accepted on a conditional basis, pending our receipt of your official transcript after you graduate.

What to expect as a Penn Commercial Business/Technical School student

Classes are in-person at the school and at clinical sites. No online classes.

During this 12-month nursing program, you will have access to training that will prepare you to work in a variety of medical facilities providing care for patients of all ages and taking advantage of the increasing opportunities presented in this field.

This 12-month diploma program has been crafted to prepare students to serve as a true health professional for patients and their families. Students will be taught how to administer medication, observe and report symptoms and perform therapeutic procedures. Other areas of focus include:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing

The Practical Nursing program offers a valuable blend of classroom learning with clinical experiences designed to enable students to apply what they know in professional settings. In fact, Penn Commercial Business/Technical School is affiliated with a number of health care facilities in the Pennsylvania area for this purpose. You will train in these facilities under the direct supervision of medical professionals, facing real-life situations.

Becoming a licensed practical nurse means you will be responsible for a wide variety of clinical tasks and directly involved with patient care. In our Practical Nursing program, you will learn the necessary skills in treating and communicating with patients from accomplished instructors who have years of experience as registered nurses. Students can find job placement assistance with services like job fairs, career counseling, interviewing workshops, job listings, resume assistance, employment newsletters and externships through our dedicated Career Services Department.

The Practical Nursing program requires a Health Clearance/Physical Form to be completed. Also, due to clinical site requirements, students will need to be current on the following vaccines/titers for communicable diseases prior to entering the clinical component of the program:
– Hepatitis B Titer and vaccination if needed
– Varicella Titer and vaccination if needed
– MMR Titer and vaccination if needed
– T-Spot Testing for Tuberculosis
– TDAP vaccination
– Flu shot
