Program Overview

In as few as 26 weeks, you can get the foundational education you need for an entry-level position as a professional welder. Pennco Tech’s Welding Program trains students to become highly skilled welders, combining classroom instructions with hands-on learning. Students can enroll in the Welding Program at our campus in Bristol, Pennsylvania.

About the Welding Program

Students in the Welding Program at Pennco Tech receive 900 hours of hands-on training over 26 weeks. This program is divided into two courses of study:

  • WLD 101: Welding Fundamentals (450 hours)
  • WLD 102: Advanced Welding (450 hours)

The Welding Program trains students in key procedures, techniques, and safety measures to prepare them for entry-level welder positions. Students will learn a wide range of welding techniques, including:

  • Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Metal Arch Welding (GMAW/MIG)
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG)
  • Plasma Cutting
  • Proper welding equipment/tools

In addition, students will learn critical skills like reading blueprints and welding symbols, alloy identification, fabrication, and practicing shop safety. Plus, they’ll be learning from experienced instructors who have years of career experience as professional welders.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

Career Opportunities for Graduates

Graduates who successfully complete Pennco Tech’s Welding Program will be prepared to work in:

Students can graduate with the working knowledge and skills to become certified/licensed as a welder in any U.S. states, upon passing the proper certifying/licensure exams. Graduates should also be able to complete pre-qualification tests for any construction or structural projects. Some of the jobs that Pennco Tech welding graduates can obtain include:

Please note: This program does not license or guarantee becoming a certified/licensed welder in PA or any other state. Becoming certified/licensed is the student’s individual responsibility. A review of certification/licensing requirements in PA will be included in WLD 101: Welding Fundamentals.
