Nail Technology

The Nail Technology course is 350 clock hours, part time from 15 hours a week, full time from 24 hours a week.

Teaching is a mix of theory lectures, practical demonstrations including guest speakers, audio-visual materials, theory and practical worksheets, a practical workbook and illustrations. Assessment runs through theory and practical exams, clinic-area practical exams, oral quizzes, textbook chapter exams and final examinations in both theory and practice.

Graduation requires completing the programme hours and clearing the tuition account in full, with no outstanding balance, unless special circumstances apply.

Rosel publishes a graduated refund scale by percentage of course completed, and caps the non-refundable portion at the lesser of a stated share of instructional charges or $300, plus the cost of any books or materials already issued.

A caveat you should raise with admissions. Rosel’s published course catalog — the 2024-2025 edition, which is the one embedded on its own Catalog page — gives a lower and itemised figure for this course: a $100 registration fee, $400 of books and supplies and $3,000.00 of tuition, a subtotal of $3,500.00. That is $500.00 less than the website figure.

The two are not reconcilable from the outside: the catalog edition is older, and the website gives a single headline number with no breakdown, so there is no way to tell from the published material whether the newer figure includes the same registration fee and books. No breakdown has been invented for it here. Confirm the current total, and what it includes, in writing before you enrol.

Financial aid. Rosel offers aid through FAFSA, and its financial aid officer assists students in applying and determining eligibility. The school states plainly that where a student qualifies for the maximum Pell Grant, the grant covers approximately 80 per cent of tuition costs and the student is responsible for the rest. Flexible monthly payment plans are offered to all students. The school also publishes CARES Act and HEERF quarterly reports and a net price calculator.

Payment is accepted as cash, cheque, money order or credit card. Tuition payments must be made on the schedule agreed at enrolment, and the account must be clear before graduation.

The Nail Technology course prepares students for licensure as a Nail Technologist through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and for employment in the profession.

Rosel states the course goals plainly: to train students in both the theory of beauty culture and hands-on client service; to prepare them to work as licensed stylists in salons; to prepare them to pass the Illinois State Board licensure examination; to prepare them for other fields of cosmetology such as skin care specialist, make-up artist, colourist and salon owner; and to educate them on employer/employee relationships, ethics and etiquette.

The school publishes career-path guidance and student services, and runs an on-site salon and spa where students build client experience before they graduate.
