Program Overview

The Horticulture Associate in Science degree provides students with a foundation of academic and practical experience in the production and management of plants. Students will use technology, materials, and methods to develop skills in plant propagation, nursery management, irrigation systems, and crop production. They will learn to enhance the urban landscapes through sustainable landscape design, construction, and maintenance. Students entering the landscape industry, upgrading skills, or transferring to four-year degree programs will benefit from the curriculum. Graduates are employed by nurseries, landscape contractors, landscape architects and designers, public and private agencies, or are self-employed. Implement fundamental horticultural knowledge to identify and solve practical challenges associated with the Horticulture industry. Understand and apply fundamental knowledge related to identification, management, and production of horticultural crops. Understand and apply basic management and business skills critical to the horticulture industry, such as time management, attention to detail, communication, and consistency. Recognize and perform the technical skills required for employment in the horticulture industry.
