Basic Fire Company Officer

The Basic Fire Company Officer Technical Certificate of Credit program is conducted in cooperation with the Georgia Fire Academy and Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training to ensure graduates have the skills, knowledge and credentials to serve as firefighters and company officers in paid and volunteer fire departments. Graduates will be tested and certified at the National Professional Qualifications level. Program graduates receive a Basic Fire Company Officer Technical Certificate of Credit. Exit examination can be administered for Basic Fire Company Officer after these courses have successfully completed and the respective task book has been completed. If the exit examination and task book are successfully completed, the candidate will be issued an NPQ Certification Application through GFSTC.

Public Safety Employment Awareness Statement A criminal history will not hinder a student from receiving a certificate, diploma, or degree in a Public Safety program from Southern Crescent Technical College; however, a student with a criminal background may be denied employment in the public safety field. The following is a suggested path to complete this program in a timely manner. An individual’s path to completion may be different based on institutional and personal factors affecting his/her academic progress.
