Program Overview
Individuals accepted into and completing the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprenticeship program now have an educational option in pursuit of an Associate of Applied Science Degree. NNSY Apprentices who complete the Tidewater Community College Career Studies Certificate - Trades Technician, the NNSY Apprentice program to obtain Journeyman status and additional college courses may earn the Associate of Applied Science Maritime Technologies - Specialization Trades Technician.
Students who have completed a registered apprenticeship, such as the DOLA Registered Apprenticeship Certificate, may be eligible to receive up to 15 credits toward the Maritime Technologies degree. Credit may be granted for MRT 120 , MRT 124 , MRT 126 , MRT 197 , MRT 297 , or additional approved elective credits, up to a total of 15 credits.
