From the 2026–2027 School Catalog. The Associate of Occupational Studies in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Program, available at Phoenix, AZ campus only, is designed to provide training and education in adequate depth and breadth to allow graduates entry access to diverse and demanding career positions utilizing air conditioning (both heating and cooling), and refrigeration and construction/maintenance electrical applications. The lower division portion of this program consists of all courses within the Electro-Mechanical Technologies program. With the Electro-Mechanical Technologies courses as a foundation, the additional academic preparation in technical and applied general education topics help prepare graduates for positions that may entail a high level of understanding of all interrelated workings in facilities and commercial/industrial job settings. In the lower division courses, training consists of a combination of lecture and laboratory, utilizing hands-on training. In upper division courses, the method of training is entirely asynchronous. The campus has not yet sought approval from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Therefore, this program is not approved by TWC at this time. TWS requires students to purchase accident insurance as part of their program costs; this is a secondary (supplemental) accident insurance policy that only covers accidents while students are in class, and it is not a health insurance plan.

Federal grants. Federal grants are often called “gift aid” because they don’t have to be repaid once you complete the program; grants are typically awarded based on financial need.

In 1965, the Tulsa Welding School (TWS) Phoenix Campus started out as a Phoenix, AZ trade school specializing in HVAC and Refrigeration career training only. Since then, we’ve expanded to include career programs for Welding and Electrical/Electrical-Mechanic technologies.

The TWS Phoenix campus is located in the Phoenix metropolitan area and includes 26,000 square feet of training facilities, including classrooms, labs, support services, and shops.

What will I receive at the end of the program?
Once you have successfully completed your educational program, you may be awarded either a diploma or degree upon completion of the entire program. Missouri residents completing a non-degree program will earn a Certificate of Completion in lieu of a Diploma.
Can my credits be transferred to or from TWS?
Credits earned at Tulsa Welding School (TWS) may not transfer to another educational institution. Credits earned at another educational institution may not be accepted by Tulsa Welding School. You should obtain confirmation that Tulsa Welding School will accept any credits you have earned at another educational institution before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement. You should also contact any educational institutions that you may want to transfer credits earned at Tulsa Welding School prior to executing an enrollment contract or agreement. The ability to transfer credits from Tulsa Welding School to another educational institution may be very limited. Your credits may not transfer and you may have to repeat courses previously taken at Tulsa Welding School if you enroll in another educational institution. You should never assume that credits will transfer to or from any educational institution. It is highly recommended and you are advised to make certain that you know the transfer of credit policy of Tulsa Welding School and of any other educational institutions you may in the future want to transfer the credits earned at Tulsa Welding School before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement. Is there a refund policy?
The student may cancel their enrollment at any time by submitting notice, preferably in writing, of cancellation to the Admissions Department. Their money shall be fully refunded if requested within 72 hours (until midnight of the third day excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays) after signing an Enrollment Agreement and paying a registration fee or larger amount.
