Program Overview
Upon completion of the Associate in Arts in History, students will be able to use knowledge of the past and accumulated analytical and critical thinking skills to gain perspective on current social, political, and economic dynamics and apply any conclusions about the past and present to the process of creating better local, national, and global societies. History is a study of the past. The past not only defines our lives, society, and the world we live in today, but shapes the pathway to the future. Students of history study individuals, groups, communities, nations, people, and cultures from different times and places. Many different methods are applied to effectively learn about history. History students examine the past through different perspectives and apply various analytical techniques to raise questions and think critically about the past. In addition to learning about amazing events, history provides us with a better understanding of our present lives. The Associate in Arts in History requires students to also complete the following: • Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units. • Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0. • Earn a grade of “C” or better
