Certified Dealership Technician - GM ASEP

Ranken’s Certified Dealership Technician Programs provide students with brand-specific training through the following partnerships: • Toyota/Lexus: Toyota Technical Education Network (T-TEN) • Honda/Acura: Professional Automotive Career Training (PACT) • Ford: Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) • General Motors: GM Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP)

Students enrolled in Ranken Technical College’s General Motors Technology (GMT) program focus on General Motors (GM) vehicles such as Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. The General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP) is the foundation of the course curriculum. ASEP provides GM-specific training initiatives that assist dealers in educating the next generation of technicians. In this program, students gain valuable hands-on experience by utilizing the same tools, equipment, and vehicles the dealerships see on a day-to-day basis. Students gain real-world experience through a paid internship at a sponsoring dealership. By alternating between eight-week blocks of instruction and eight-week blocks of fieldwork throughout the five-semester program, students implement their newly learned skills immediately.

Participating GM ASEP program students alternate between blocks of eight weeks of instruction at Ranken and eight weeks of hands-on work in an internship at a sponsoring dealership. This real-world experience gives students the opportunity to work with the same tools and equipment as the service facility technicians. At the end of the five-semester program, students will have completed thirty-two weeks of internship experience, giving them the experience they need to succeed.

Students must secure employment with an approved Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, or GMC dealership prior to beginning the program and maintain that employment for the full duration of the five-semester program.
