Program Overview
The Electrical Systems Design program allows an innovative mind to excel in the electrical industry. In this program, students will design and draft the electrical backbone of residential and commercial buildings using today’s latest software and technology. The program creates skilled technicians who are qualified to work side-by-side with building engineers.
Through lecture and shop/lab activities, first year students receive instruction and training in electrical theory, installing electrical systems, power distribution, the National Electric Code (NEC) and the foundations of electrical design software such as CAD, BIM, and Revit. During the second year, students will read and create blueprints for both residential and commercial settings that provide the electrical loads and cost estimation for a client.
Electrical Design graduates are versed in the layout, installation, and blueprint reading of commercial and industrial wiring in new construction projects. Graduates become an electrical systems designer, an electrical estimators, insurance inspectors, and electrical engineer associates.
